Machine Operators (Threading)

Overview Reporting to the Shop Foreman, this role will set up, operate and tend to machining tools to perform repetitive machining operations, such as bending, milling, threading, grinding, cutting or other machining operations. The role requires basic reading, writing, mathematical and basic computer literacy. The role may require the employee to be trained in the use of Tow Motors, Cranes, WHMIS, JHSC and First Aid.

Responsibilities: 
Specific Duties 1. Complete assigned work orders within pre-determined/ reasonable production timelines. 2. Ensure that work order instructions are properly sequenced and material is as per specification (contract review of work order). 3. Ensure that equipment is properly set up and functioning in order to properly machine material. 4. Verify material provided to work orders for accuracy, where incorrect inform Shop Foreman for further action. 5. Check material prior to machining to ensure it is fit for purpose. 6. Set up equipment to carry out operations, manage settings, testing settings, regulating the equipment so that it runs consistently within specifications. 7. Check equipment to be used for problems and perform pre start inspection and any basic maintenance tasks in order to ensure that no glitches occur at time of work. 8. Perform work routines ensuring that manufacturing procedures are carried out to specification on work order. 9. As required, perform inspection using precision measuring instruments to verify the process is achieving results as specified on the work orders/plans. 10. Check material after processing to ensure that it meets requirements as specified on work order. 11. Keep track of number of units scrapped due to errors in process or set up errors on work orders and report to Quality Assurance Department right away.. 12. Inspect to ensure parts met pre-determined quality and cosmetic standards at each stage for which responsible 13. monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running 14. Maintain and clean equipment when changing production orders, including sharpening of chasers. Page 1 of 2 15. Practice safe machine operation for equipment assigned and used in performance of duties. 16. Troubleshoot basic problems during work / job operations, perform corrective action or minor repairs. 17. Provide relevant information regarding work assignments to foreman. 18. Responsible for ensuring that identification and traceability of material assigned is maintained during processing 19. Ensure material undergoing processing is adequately packaged to arrive at the next operation station undamaged. 20. Operate lifting devices where trained, certified and appropriate to the task. 21. Update work completed in system. 22. Report immediately to Supervisor any irregularities in process, material, equipment or operations. 23. Perform material handling activities such as counting, precision measuring, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking of product or material. 24. Verify relevant sales/work order operations to contract items to for compliance. 25. Report to Shop Foreman any issues regarding the storage of material, missing material, mislabelled material, unidentified material etc. 26. Report to the Shop Foreman outstanding and potentially late deliveries. 27. Any other reasonable duties as assigned by Shop Foreman. General Duties  Perform general cleaning duties.  Report any damaged or deteriorating, missing, mislabelled or unidentified material to foreman and or Quality Assurance Department for issue of non-conformance.  Comply with company policies and safety policies.  Understand the areas of the Quality System that affect duties being performed.  Report to management any activities which can adversely affect the organisation.  Behave respectfully to others in and around the facility  Suggest improvements to the operations of NFI  Maintain workstation/ work area and equipment in a clean and serviceable manner.  Provide information and assistance for completion of incident reports in relation to health and safety issues
