Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Brake Press / Press Shop Mechanic to support the production of precision aerospace components through specialized metal forming processes. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press shop equipment to produce high-quality aluminum alloy parts that meet aerospace standards and customer requirements. The Press Shop Mechanic will work hands-on with hydraulic brake presses, stretch form presses, and auxiliary forming machines, while also supporting tool development and process documentation. This position combines technical expertise with attention to detail, ensuring compliance, safety, and continuous improvement within the press shop.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate forming equipment, including hydraulic brake presses (CNC), stretch form presses, Farnham Rolls, and auxiliary machinery.
Perform forming operations on aluminum alloy parts with complex curves using dies, pressure plates, and form blocks.
Conduct hand forming, trimming, crimping, drilling, and finishing tasks as required.
Support tool development activities, including first-off operations and accurate documentation of machine settings.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Perform self-inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve production issues and improve processes.
Maintain equipment in safe working condition and follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience:
Previous experience in metal forming, fabrication, or a related trade (aerospace experience considered an asset).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
Willingness to learn specialized forming techniques and adapt to new processes.
Experience operating brake presses, stretch forming equipment, or related machinery preferred.
Basic knowledge of sheet metal forming processes and materials.
