Job Title: Technical Drawings Co-op (8 – 12 months with possibility of extension)

Job Summary: The Technical Drawings Co-op Student plays a key role in supporting the engineering team by creating accurate, detailed, and organized technical drawings that help bring product concepts to life and ensure smooth manufacturing processes. Working closely with our engineers, this student will contribute to real-world projects while learning to apply industry standards, improve workflows, and support cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities
· Create technical drawings including accurate 2D and 3D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies based on design requirements, using SolidWorks CAD software.
· Update existing technical drawings as needed based on design requirements and feedback.
· Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, such as exploded views, and drawing packages.
· Maintain file organization for efficient knowledge transfer and manufacturing readiness.
· Work closely with Engineering, Production, Purchasing and Quality teams to ensure designs are clearly understood, manufacturable, and meet SWS’s reliability and performance standards.
· Adhere to SWS’s technical drawing standards, version control policies, and documentation guidelines to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance with internal processes.
· Identify and suggest improvements to existing drawing templates, design workflows, or documentation practices to help increase efficiency, reduce errors, and support continuous improvement within the engineering team.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Commitment to continuous learning and improvement with a willingness to participate in personal growth initiatives.
· Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or related post-secondary program with a co-op/internship requirement
· Completed coursework in technical drawing, CAD, and mechanical design fundamentals
· Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
· Familiarity with engineering drawing standards (e.g., dimensioning, tolerancing)
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
· Excellent communication skills, able to ask clear questions and share ideas
· Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally
· Basic understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes is an asset
· Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.
Base Salary
$22.00 per hour.
